Our volunteers are our life blood. In the past years, we have annually had over 145 volunteers, working over 4,500 hours for SLARC! And our volunteers have done some amazing things.
The Business Planning Advisory Committee (BPAT) consisting of Florence Woolner, Chair, and board members Garnet Angeconeb and Terry Lynne Jewell was struck in September 2006, to advise the board and our new Business Manager, Jenny Morrow. The Committee met weekly until June 2007 and were instrumental in setting up SLARC's fundraising campaign, Working Together - Working Tomorrow. The committee worked with the board to raise money for Race Relations Week 2007 and designed the SLARC in the Summer sub campaign. It assisted Jenny in the development of a communications strategy and a marketing strategy for the organization. With the addition of Board members Susan Barclay and Matthew Kakekaspan, the committee completed a Business Plan for SLARC to 2012.
The committee benefited greatly from the advice and participation of a host of townspeople including: Terry Jewell, Douglas Semple, Jay Curtis, Luc McKay, Kai Koivukoski and Margaret Kenequanash.
Aileen Urquhart enjoyed learning how to use Microsoft Publisher when she developed SLARC's Corporate Membership campaign materials. Thanks to her hours of work, we now have many corporate members. Thanks Aileen! And thanks to our corporate members!
